Jessica Krause Smith is a New York City-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of intuition, reaction, memory and materiality.

She earned her Studio Art degree (Painting and Graphic Design) from Skidmore College, graduating with honors in 1997. Her work has been exhibited widely, including at IFAC Arts NYC, Walter Wickiser Gallery, LIC Arts, and Sotheby’s, among others. Her paintings are part of the permanent collection at the Tang Museum and numerous private collections across the U.S. In addition to her painting practice, Krause Smith has an extensive background as an art director and graphic designer, collaborating with major global brands. She maintains her studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and lives in Williamsburg, NYC.

In her work, Krause Smith explores the interplay between chance and intention, responding to internal energy, surroundings, reflections, discoveries, and visual stimuli—pulling from her subconscious in an ever-shifting relationship. Jessica’s painting process is physical and expressive, combining acrylics with house paint, spray paint, oil sticks, dried fragments and found materials. Her work invites interpretation, sensory engagement and is a contemplative outlet —embodying human energy, visual poetry, and emotional depth—born from both her personal experience and our shared human condition.
